quicksand

do you remember when we were all scared of quicksand?

"don't move!" they would say, on the tv, “if you move, you’ll sink quicker.”

as children, quicksand seemed like a problem we'd encounter much more frequently than reality would have it.

except, i did find myself in quicksand.

standing upright in this pit, the sand reaches my waist. one wrong move and i'll sink. one wrong move and the sand will drown me. so i don’t. so i stay, rooted in spot, too scared to shift because what if my world comes crashing around me? what if all that is left of me is a finger sticking out of the sand, a reminder of an attempt to claw my way out?

“don’t move,” they say, “or you’ll sink deeper.”

so i don't. so i stay, rooted in spot. motionless. one wrong move and i'll sink.

the quicksand nightmare has become a reality. but just as the characters on tv escaped the treacherous pit, so too shall i.

power of personality: enneagram

Enneagram comes from the Greek words, "Ennea," meaning 9, and "gramma," meaning written or drawn.
