a poem with more meaning than meets the eye.
moving on means
imagining a lifetime
without them there.
moving on means conceding
they’ll find someone
else — someone who makes them smile
brighter than you
ever could. it means mourning —
even if just
momentarily — the vast
and momentous
love we held for them. moving
on means tuning
out how their last name sounded
on your tongue with
your first; and it means coming
to terms with the
admission that this love was
simply paving
the way for something else.
