say it again

a poem (and one of my favourites now)

"i deserved better."

"say it again," she said.

"i deserved better than what i was given."

"that's exactly right,

whether you would've gotten it or not

from this person —

one day —

you deserved better than what you were given."

say it again, she told me.

reiterate. speak it into existence. say it until you believe it.

until it becomes second nature.

repeat. again. one more time. and then another time after that.

what did i deserve? better. i deserved better.

and what do i deserve now? i still deserve better.

say it again, she told me, say it again.
